Minister: Problems with Chinese components supplies not pressing

MOSCOW, Feb 10 (PRIME) -- There are disruptions in supplies of components from Chinese companies to Russia due to the coronavirus, but the problems are not pressing so far, Industry and Trade Minister Denis Manturov told reporters on Monday.

“There actually is a problem. It emerged due to reciprocal restrictions, due to the epidemic that broke out in China. We are not interested in suspension of cooperation links,” he said.

“I can’t say that there is a pressing problem. Problems arose with supplies of some components to our car companies not due to the possibility of a component coming with a virus, but because Chinese companies limit their working shifts so that people are unable to fulfill orders there. No dire problems have arisen so far, we will look for alternative suppliers when a problem emerges.”

He said that Russia has covered demand for face masks with local materials and components.

“But we will work in a manual mode on each problem if they emerge in any other sector,” he said. “We assume that the virus will be localized and all cooperation ties will be restored.”
